Kennedy Center, NSO, and the REACH

It’s been 20 months since we attended a concert at the Kennedy Center and we were ready to return. The rules were simple and easy to endure: vaccinations required along with masks inside the building.

We were there to see the NSO perform a symphony by Tchaikovsky, a Liszt piano concerto performed by Thibaudet, and a short, modern piece by an Estonian composer who began his career in rock music and maintains those ties today, Erkki-Sven Tüür.

We spent some time exploring the REACH, an expansion of the Kennedy Center that provides rehearsal space, instruction areas and lecture halls, storage, offices, community use space, and ties the Kennedy Center to the Potomac by providing an access walkway to the river.

A spectacular day and a wonderful return to great art.
