List
On Friday, we headed to the Eiffel Tower first. We had purchased tickets to the top in February and I was really looking forward to the view of Paris we were about to see. Jen, not so much. The sky was clearing. It was exciting.
We took a bus. Note the man picking up trash photobombed us, with a big smile.
When we actually arrived, we found that a labor problem with the security guards had resulted in a locked gate. The Eiffel Tower was closed!
It was disappointing but the tower was still beautiful and so striking, we enjoyed sitting for a bit and simply looking at it. Then we decided to walk to the river and take a cruise down the Seine.
We bought tickets and boarded a boat from Bateaux Parisiens. The sun was breaking through the clouds and it was a nice way to see Paris.
Place de la Concorde from the water. The Egyptian obelisk, by the way, is over 3,000 years old.
The building is the Musée de l’Orangerie, a Monet showplace.
The Louvre
Institut de France
Musée d'Orsay
The United States gave this smaller version of the Statue of Liberty to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution.
Quite a bridge, it carries the Metro, cars, and pedestrians across the Seine.
We ate lunch just around the corner at the Cafe Branley, part of the Quai Branley Museum. Jen had the Cafe Branley Salad, greens-romaine, arugula, thinly sliced carrots, yellow, orange, purple, with a poached egg. I had back of cod, on a red pepper puree and a side of rice. And, of course, a glass of wine.
We stopped for some music outside Musée d’Orsay.
A former train station, the museum itself is a work of art.
Through the clock, Sacré- Cœur can be seen in the distance.
See the ferris wheel at Place de la Concorde?
Little Dancer Aged Fourteen - Degas
Woman with Parasol, one facing left, the other facing right - Monet.

Walking back to our apartment from Musée d'Orsay
This is the boat we cruised on, showing another group of visitors a view of Paris.
The Louvre in the distance.
This restaurant was just a couple of doors away from our apartment and our host had recommended it. Unfortunately, the landlord did not renew their lease and they were forced to close.
So we walked to Le Souffle restaurant, where they told us they were already booked for the evening. No problem, just around the block was Le Florentin, a small restaurant Jen had spotted earlier.
We had a delicious meal at Le Florentin. Jen had Lasagne au Salmon. Pasta layered with creamed salmon and spinach topped with a layer of cheese and a dab of pesto and olive oil. I had scallops with mushrooms and other veggies in a mushroom sauce and a shaped mound of rice in the center. A delicious chocolate cake and coffee for dessert. And wine.
Walking home.
