Kennedy Center and Strathmore

Our weekend of music started on Saturday with dinner in Rockville at Tower Oaks Lodge restaurant. Then a magnificent evening listening to the NSO, the Choral Arts Society of Washington, the Children’s Chorus of Washington, and three amazing singers perform Britten’s War Requiem in honor of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Hundreds of voices and instruments can often be overwhelming, but this moving music ends with an “amen” so soft that it seems that you imagined hearing it.

Sunday began with breakfast at First Watch and then a little change of pace with a Christmas concert by Mannheim Steamroller at Strathmore. It was a beautiful concert hall with some fun music.
