We were on the other side of the aisle, two seats side-by-side. The ride was incredibly fast (180 mph), and incredibly smooth. Our breakfast was good and we enjoyed the French countryside.
When we arrived, our host was there to greet us. This was the main room in the apartment. There also was a small kitchen with cooking facilities and bathroom off this room. It was charming, comfortable, and in a great location.
Just steps from our apartment, we saw this, and at that moment, it hit us. We were in Paris.
This was on the building next to ours, along with some damage to the walls from World War II fighting. The U.S. Embassy was just two buildings away from ours.
Rue de Mondovi, our street.
This huge ferris wheel was at the Place de la Concorde, about two minutes from our apartment.
Place de la Concorde is between the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre. This photo is looking west down the Champs-Élysées.
Place de la Concorde is also the place where Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were executed.
It was misty and trying to rain.
The Seine
Notre-Dame in the distance
A beautiful bridge, the Pont Alexandre III.
We walked to this boulangerie (bakery) and bought sandwiches, quiche, and an apple tart for dinner back at the apartment.
After dinner, we walked back to the Place de la Concorde, I guess because we could.
