The Detroit Institute of Arts was hosting an exhibit that included “Gallery at the Louvre”, a painting by Samuel F. B. Morse. It had limited success for Morse, so he moved on to bigger things, developing the telegraph and Morse code, still in use today. Even though the public didn’t seem to be too interested in his art, it has some historical significance since it was part of the American artist migration to Paris, which included writers, artists, and sculptors. The artists living in Paris then returned to the United States and changed American culture and art forever.
