Vermeer, Chagall, and NSO

Our weekend in DC began with a surprise on Saturday. Our arrival was coinciding with the arrival of thousands of other people attending the “Taste of DC” and the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March. The National Art Gallery (our destination) was located right in the middle of all of the activity between the mall and Pennsylvania Avenue. We managed, though, and parked in our favorite garage about a block from the museum, in spite of the barriers.

It was a beautiful fall day and we enjoyed a cup of coffee in the sculpture garden, even discovering a Chagall that we had never seen before.

Saturday night was a concert by the NSO and a guitar concerto performed by Sharon Isbin. Both were very enjoyable.

After breakfast on Sunday, we went to the Leesburg Outlets and had spectacular burgers at Melt Gourmet Cheeseburgers which was an experience in itself.
