images of our life
Before this spring, I’d only seen this Pileated Woodpecker once in our yard. This spring I’ve seen it twice in our Cherry tree and it is a magnificent sight. The head is striking with its dramatic red coloring and wide, distinct black and white stripes. The beak is as long as its head. And when it flies away, the span of its wings is between two and three feet. An incredible vision.
