We drove to the Kennedy Center to watch conductor Christoph Eschenbach and cellist Kian Soltani rehearse with the National Symphony Orchestra. They were preparing for a concert that evening performing Bruckner and a cello concerto by Haydn. See the Washington Post review of Thursday night's concert by clicking here.
I love these opportunities but the start time of 10 am means that we’re driving down in the midd.e of rush hours in Baltimore and D.C. Instead of a two hour drive, it took us 3 hours and 15 minutes. Difficult and tiring.
After the rehearsal, though, Jen had a great idea. We drove across the river to Arlington and ate at Rocklands Barbecue, a fun restaurant with great food and great memories of meals with Dan, Courtney and the kids.
