We spent a great week in Michigan. The weather was the best we’ve seen in Michigan in a long time. Every day had temps in the low 80s, with low humidity and sunny skies. Fun seeing the family and having lots of wonderful experiences.
Belle Isle Aquarium and Conservatory, both built in 1904. The aquarium is the oldest in the United States. Both buildings were designed by Albert Kahn.
Haven’t quite figured this one out. Thirty=five feet in diamete, the Sterling Heights Corridor Golden Ring cost $340,000 and is supposed to set Sterling Heights apart from the other Detroit suburbs. Kind of think the mayor should be polishing his resume.
Loudon is sweet and adorable. I think if Mike and Patti take him to Ireland on their next vacation, they might have a lot of free meals.
Maccabees Building - one time home of WXYZ radio and television. The Lone Ranger and Green Hornet did their radio broadcasts in the 1930s from this building.
The Walter P. Chrysler train, complete with pentastar. Seemed appropriate to ride back to the entrance after seeing his grave in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery on our trip to New York.
This 1877 Steinway, used by countless Motown artists, was restored by Paul McCartney after he visited several years ago and found that it was unplayable.
