We spent a few days in Frederick, Maryland enjoying the art, food, history, art, and friendly people of Frederick. It was our first time and we really had a great time. It’s only two hours away. We will definitely be going back.

The Sunken Road, or Bloody Lane. In three hours, 5,500 soldiers died here.

One of the last battles took place at Burnside Bridge, where Burnside’s troops were able to push the confederate army across the creek. Reinforcements arrived, though, and after 23,000 deaths both armies had moved very little. Lee’s invasion of the north had failed and McClellan failed to seize the initiative. A tragedy for both sides.
