It was the first time Dover Air Force Base had permitted the general public through its gates since 2009 and the promise of a spectacular air show was exciting. Brian, Alexis, Jen, and I drove down and the show was beyond our expectations. The weather was perfect, the organization was almost flawless, and the planes were amazing. We were able to park on the base, the entry lines moved quickly in spite of the huge crowds, and we were treated to a magnificent show.

They were serious about protecting this plane. This was not the only soldier armed and very alertly protecting this F-22 Raptor.

Perhaps the most incredible sight at the show, a B-2A Spirit flyby. When this plane was flying toward or away from the base, you could just barely see or hear it. But when it was in front of us or above us, it was stunning, an incredible airplane.

A replica of a Nakajima B5N2, nicknamed Kate, a Japanese torpedo-bomber. This one was built for the movie Tora! Tora! Tora!

This plane can land on runways under 3500 feet and it used its reverse thrusters to back the plane up on the runway.
