Dad had been talking about "going home" for some time and it seemed that shortly after Thanksgiving he decided that he was ready. On January 9th, he completed his journey. At home, with family and friends, his life ended just as we all would want, peacefully and gently. Our family came together first in Michigan to say goodbye, and then in Jonesboro to bury him next to Mom. Our shared memories and stories enabled us to appreciate that Dad's life had ended just as he had lived: with dignity, simplicity, and courage.
As a well spent day
brings happy sleep,
so a life well spent
brings happy death.
