Winter Preparations

…to be prepared is half the victory.

Miguel de Cervantes

The air was cooler, the days were shorter. Thoughts of snow and winter began to sneak into our minds. And we wanted to be ready.

Brian came over and we lit the fires at about 6:15 am. What followed was a great day of grilling and smoking meat to freeze for the winter. We smoked two pork shoulders, a turkey breast, and two eye of round roasts, over 32 pounds of meat.

When Alexis came over in the afternoon with butternut squash rissoto, we had a wonderful dinner: salad, rissoto, and slices of the roasted beef.

Oh, yes. Jen also made an delicious apple pie.
