Tom and Denise invited us to spend the weekend with them in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to see a hugely popular street rod show that occurs every year. Their son Adam and Denise's sister and brother-in-law Mary Jo and Don were also there.
Cars are parked along the street, in parking lots, and anywhere big enough to squeeze one more in. There are hundreds of cars to look at ranging from the "I'm not sure why they bothered" category to really beautiful automobiles that were clearly treasures. We had a great time looking at as many as we could. I had three favorites: a 1961 Plymouth station wagon, a 1961 Valiant, and a 1949 Plymouth Suburban.
On Saturday, Jen and I took a trip into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and enjoyed a beautiful day in a beautiful setting. We saw sorghum molasses being made (and tasted), wild turkeys, and a deer. No bears, though, and Jen was grateful not to see the snakes that the signs warned us about.
It was really a wonderful weekend with great friends.
