On Friday morning after our visit to Mount Vernon the previous day, we went to the elementary school in Arlington to be the surprise “Mystery Readers” in Louisa’s class. The teacher reads three clues to the class, each revealing a little more information about who the reader is going to be. The game is to see if the person whose friend or relative is coming can guess. And, of course, Louisa guessed it was us. We had a good time with the class. In fact, one student said, “I remember you from kindergarten.”
The rest of the day was spent visiting with Courtney, playing with Cara, and building a gingerbread house when Louisa and Owen got home from school.
And a special treat: Owen played his violin for us.
